Here’s the reality: the rich guys in America wanted to stay rich and wanted to control the commodity trade of “their” (arguably not due to the slave labor and land stolen and methods of growing such crops were originally African and indigenous americas knowledge) goods and keep profits of it.

AFTER THE REVOLUTION THE TAXES WERE STILL RAISED.

TO A PRICE EQUAL AND SOMETIMES HIGHER THAN WHAT THE BRITISH WANTED TO CHARGE.

TAKE THAT IRONY.

Funny how that fact did not make it into my history books.
