How to not be a derailing asshole

You see a post bringing a certain important topic up for discussion and you’re like “hey, it reminds me of this other issue!” What’s the right way to bring it up?

If you:

1. reblog the post
2. talk about your issue in the post
3. post

then you’re a derailing asshole! Seriously, the ops would greatly appreciate it if you didn’t do this because your reblogging the post to talk about your issue means you open a discussion AT THE EXPENSE OF ANOTHER DISCUSSION THAT WAS ALREADY OPENED. And that’s just pretty goddamn awful.

How about next time you think about reblogging somebody else’s post about other issues to talk about your issues, you:

1. Click one of the ‘NEW POST’ buttons on your dashboard
2. Compose a NEW ORIGINAL POST about your issue
3. post!

There, was that so hard? Now you can open a discussion about your issue without having to derail somebody else’s discussion, because you put it in a separate original post!
