Lovely name, Rory.

NOT OKAY.

This is not okay because this is what I told myself. ”I’m just going through a phase, I just want attention, it it won’t last.”

This is not okay because this is what my dad told my mom after I came out. ”She’s confused, she’s going through a phase, it won’t last.”

This not okay because this is what I am still sometimes afraid of. “It was a college phase, what will I tell the woman I’m in love with when it turns out it was a phase, it won’t last.”

That awesome crushing fear and denial? Comes from shit like this.

In two lines of dialogue Steven Moffat just told every questioning kid watching the television that what they’re feeling is transient and fake. It takes six words to fuck over some token bisexual representation and instead use it to reenforce the idea that women only kiss women when it’s cool to do so.

Yeah, this scene just really bothered and hurt me.

When I came out bisexual (I ID as pansexual/queer now), my mother, sister, and a good friend all told me basically, “It’s a phase” or that I wasn’t really bisexual/queer, that I was doing it for attention or it wasn’t real or it wouldn’t last.

It’s still a hole in my heart, still something that makes me feel like there’s a glass wall between me and my family that we can’t cross because I know if I let them, they’ll hurt me all over again.

So to hear this? It fucked with me.

Plus, isn’t she misgendering her former partner/romantic interest by doing this? Which is also fucked up.

I want to like Oswin, I do. And why couldn’t word this differently or leave it out?

It’s like having all your birthday presents taken away and then being slapped. God, this show just doesn’t want me to keep watching, does it?

So many things that are wrong and painful here and I just…I keep thinking of the queer kids who watch who previously at least had Captain Jack of the Queer Is Joyful and Wonderful and Canonical and Totally Awesome and you can be queer and an adventurous space brigand camp and now have…this. Especially the female or femme identifying queer kids.

Ugh. This show. *smdh*
