Additional tips on collecting your folk

I’m not even going to include do’s, because that’s been done. Here’s a list of dont’s.

DON’T

• apologize on behalf of PoC. We didn’t ask you to do that.
• tell people what we “actually meant to say”.
• remove yourself from your collection as if you have never been guilty of similar thought processes.
• tell them that the prejudice that white people may face is equal to the racism that PoC face. 
• appropriate AAVE during your collection.
• throw out death threats. 
• use ableist, cissexist, or otherwise bigoted language during your collection.
• send nasty messages to said person’s inbox.
• send messages to the PoC you are assisting telling them that you’re trying to collect. We’ll see it when you do it. It seems like cookie seeking behavior 85% of the time.
• act like you’re doing PoC a favor. It’s your job to collect your folk. That’s what allies are generally SUPPOSED to do. You’re not doing us any favors by being a decent person. You will find no cookies here.
