Deleting a Post

I don’t usually do this, but I deleted the quote about why dudes kill, because I hadn’t realized that the quote came from Hugo Schwyzer. I should have done my research on it and actually clicked the link instead of just reblogging.

Because yeah, context matter. Context really fucking matters. And the context is that that quote came from a white man who tried to kill someone. Reblogging that quote is something of a reward, a cookie, to the murderous asshole who wrote it and others like him. Because it sends the message that if you say nice words and tickle the fancy of other privileged so-called “activists” then you can be forgiven for doing heinous things.

That’s a shitty message to send, because it just encourages them to cause more pain and suffering. It just supports the idea that hurting people with less power is okay and that there’s always a way to escape consequences for it.

If I ever repeat this big mistake in future and reblog someone like this, or hell, any of the many people who label themselves activists but are like deadly poison to oppressed people, please let me know so that I can take that shit down or at least put a warning label and proper context-giving commentary.

Please, never hesitate to tell me if I’ve done something like that or reblogged it without realizing so that I can correct myself and NEVER do it again.

ETA: Also, a big hat tip to mmmightymightypeople for sending up the warning and letting the Tumblrverse know the truth.
