I’m probably never going to be the kind of person who hands out generalized advice about writing.
First, because I don’t feel qualified or that I’ve succeeded so much at the craft that my opinion would be any more worthy than some random person behind you in line at the store or sitting beside you on the bus.
Second, because there is only one rule to writing: WRITE. That’s it. Everything else is sort of wobbly, bendable stuff that may or may not work depending on your individual situation and story.
Which isn’t to say that writing advice as a whole is bunk or you should never listen. It’s just that…well. There are billions of stories and storytellers out there in the world and they all have methods that differ from each other. There’s going to be precious little that’s universally useful or even applicable.
So, I give you my one and only piece of advice: Go thou forth and write. However, wherever, whenever, whatever. Just write.
