because thats how abuse is perpetuated?

so to hear someone say,

“you hurt me, you make me uncomfortable, you didnt observe my humanity when given chances so no, im not gonna stay around you”

is the ultimate shock and faux-pas

it doesnt occur to some that they can just say no to folks who make them squirmish

oftentimes because they havent had the choice to

and that is a motherfucking problem worth addressing, in every sense
